COOLSCULPTING

CoolSculpting Certified Practice

Cryolipolysis is the technical name for the CoolSculpting treatment, and DermMedica is a Certified Practice. We were the first clinic in the BC Interior to receive this distinction. DermMedica’s staff receive extensive training and quality monitoring from the creators of this procedure. This certification reflects a commitment to safety, and patient satisfaction.

We have been performing CoolSculpting since 2011, making DermMedica the most experienced clinic in the Okanagan area for this body-shaping procedure.

DermMedica was the first clinic in Kelowna to offer the CoolSculpting technology back in 2011. We are experienced and knowledgeable in delivering this procedure. It is important to have an experienced clinic performing this fat reduction treatment. Dr. Crippen at DermMedica is certified by the American Board of Laser Surgery in cosmetic laser procedures and DermMedica is a CoolSculpting Certified Practice. Not all clinics attain this important distinction.

ERBIUM LASER

Erbium Laser for Skin Lesions

An Erbium Laser vaporizes water to remove layers of unwanted or problematic skin such as acne scars, moles, skin cancer, sun damaged skin, or wrinkles, while also promoting the skin renewal.

How Does an Erbium Laser Work?

Erbium Lasers heat water to such a degree that the water vaporizes. When directed at the problem skin area, skin cells are gently removed, exposing fresh layers of lower lying skin. The heat from the laser also helps to stimulate the growth of new collagen, aiding in the development of younger, smoother skin.

What Conditions Does an Erbium Laser Treat?

FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER

Fractional CO2 Laser

A Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser is similar to an Erbium Laser in that they both vaporize water to remove layers of problem skin and stimulate collagen growth.  A Fractional CO2 Laser however, is a much better skin tightening laser and therefore is used for the treatment of deeper skin problems.

Dr. Crippen is certified in cosmetic laser procedures by the American Board of Laser Surgery.  Always make sure you see an experienced and well-trained laser physician for your fractional laser treatments.

How Does a Fractional CO2 Skin Laser Work?

A Fractional CO2 Laser heats water, and our skin cells are made primarily of water.  When directed at the problem skin area, the laser gently removes skin cells, exposing fresh layers of lower lying skin. The heat from the laser also helps to stimulate the growth of new collagen, aiding in the development of younger, smoother skin. No matter how aged the outer layers of skin may appear, Fractional CO2 treatments in Kelowna will always help improve aging and or sun damaged skin.

What Conditions Does a Fractional CO2 Laser Treat?

IPL LASER

IPL or Intense Pulsed Light treatment is unique for its ability to distribute a spectrum of light over a treated area. Since most other laser treatments only omit light in one wavelength, having the ability to give treatments with a spectrum of light means more versatility in handling different conditions.

How Does an IPL Treatment in Kelowna Work?

IPL uses energy from a spectrum of light wavelengths to heat a targeted skin area, damaging the problem layers of skin and causing the body to eliminate the unwanted tissue. As the tissue is discarded, the body produces new, fresh layers of skin, void of problems/defects.

VBEAM LASER

The VBeam (Vascular Laser) Treatment

We will help you eliminate redness and blood vessels on your face or other body parts to improve your confidence.

The VBeam laser (also sometimes known as a vascular laser) is a pulsed dye laser. This means that the light energy is delivered in a series of pulses to reduce red marks and treat dilated blood vessels. The Vbeam laser treatment works on multiple areas of the body and it is effective for many different skin conditions both medical and cosmetic in nature.

Reduces the Appearance of Redness and Sun Damage

We will apply the laser energy directly to the affected area of skin. This laser is designed to target red blood cells within vessels.  This will help reduce the redness seen at the surface of the skin.  In addition, this laser can be used to treat other conditions of the skin that have been caused by sun damage and acne.

Dr. Crippen and/or his trained laser staff member will calibrate the laser to treat the specific area of the body and determine the strength needed for your customized treatment as each area, condition, and patient is unique. Each patient will be given specialized protective laser eyewear as well.
